According to Russ, the fiddle that you hear on the recording is pretty close to the way it was that first time we played the song. I don't remember that, at all, I just remember the audience's reaction to the whole thing: They were really loving it. We've gotten comments since that the recording sounds Dave Matthews, which we happily take as a compliment.
When it came to recording it, we were total newbies, but that first fiddle track I played just came out right, so we kept it. We had all kinds of issues, because we didn't have very good equipment (we're working on that), but our sound engineer, Larry, did a great job making it come together. Our studio drummer, Dave Gager, added the awesome drum track to make it totally rock. We're hoping Dave will be joining us on stage in 2015 and that he will also participate in the follow-up albums. We're smarter, now: The next one should be a lot easier for everyone.
This is probably my favorite track on Hope & Truth & Dare, and I hope you like it as much as I do. Click to listen to Outta My Mind. Thanks so much for dropping by and for supporting Two Crows Joy. - jane
